Windows Media Center (MCE)
There were three different editions to it. The first edition (2003) was very limited on devices it could support its main limitation: DirectX 9. At that time DirectX 9 was just out and only few systems had this technology. In 2004 a new revision came out that had better support of hardware but smoother on screen effects. In 2005, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 came out. This has been considered to be the premiere version of MCE. It was very robust and offered hardware interoperability that previous versions could not match. The MCE features were now included in Windows Vista Home Premium and Ultimate Editions.
